Take your anatomy and physiology lessons to the next level with the Fetal Pig Dissection Kit from Anatomy Warehouse.

Perfect for at home, in-classroom, or laboratory dissections, the Fetal Pig Dissection Kit includes a preserved 11-13”, plain injected fetal pig specimen, PPE, medical-grade tools, and an educational dissection guide. This kit features the fetal pig, one of the most popular preserved specimens to study mammalian anatomy. Fetal pig anatomy is the closest comparison to human anatomy out of all animal dissection specimens as its internal anatomy features organs and systems similar to most mammals, including humans.

Learn and practice the step-by-steps of animal dissection and comparative anatomy with this introductory Fetal Pig Dissection Kit. This kit is great for the hands-on learning of a mammal's systems, organs, and parts. Practice, observe, and study the pig's physical anatomy with both the preserved specimen and the detailed educational guide included with the kit. The educational guide features illustrations of the specimen and the complete dissection process to learn how to successfully perform a complete dissection.

This kit is perfect for students studying anatomy, biology, microbiology, physiology, and more! It contains all the tools and materials you’ll need to get started on dissecting. Each item in this kit allows the student to learn safely, effectively, and successfully:

  • 1 Preserved fetal pig specimen, 11-13”, plain injected
  • 1 Pair of disposable gloves, medium
  • 1 Disposable apron, one size
  • 1 Fetal pig dissection guide
  • 1 Foam tray, 14.75” x 8”, medium
  • 1 Dissection toolkit with tools and case

Shelf Life and Storage

Take Care of Your Specimen

Specimens should be stored at room temperature and out of direct sunlight whether they are opened or unopened.

While dissecting your specimen, spraying the specimen with holding fluid will help keep the specimen moist, which will allow you to maximize your time with the specimen.

After dissection, spray your specimen generously with holding fluid before storing your specimen in an air-tight container. By following these guidelines, you can reduce the number of bacteria, mold, or other air particles on the specimen that will help inhibit mold growth.

Properly Store Your Specimen for Longevity

Unopened specimens are guaranteed to stay fresh for up to a year. With proper storage, this specimen can last for years if you store your specimen out of direct sunlight and keep it at room temperature.

Opened specimens are under no guarantee. Once a specimen is opened, it is up to you to care and store the specimen properly to extend the life of the specimen. Typically, our specimens should last a couple of weeks when properly cared for.
