Axis Scientific Complete Disarticulated Life-Size Human Skeleton with 3-Part Skull Model and Detailed Study Booklet

Axis Scientific Complete Disarticulated Life-Size Human Skeleton with 3-Part Skull Model and Study Guide

The Axis Scientific Complete Disarticulated Life-Size Human Skeleton with 3-Part Skull Model is an anatomically correct representation of all the 206 bones in the body. Our disarticulated skeleton model is a complete collection of the individual bones in the human body, including a 3-part skull model with a removable calvarium (skull cap) and an articulating mandible (jawbone).

Our complete disarticulated skeleton model features life-size representations of 206 bones. These bone models have all been cast from real human bone specimens to display realistic bony landmarks and textures.

FEATURES

Disarticulated Skeleton Model
All 80 of the axial skeleton bones and 126 of the appendicular skeleton bones are present in this model. The axial skeleton collection is further broken down into the skull bones (24 paired bones and 4 single bones) and the torso bones (24 paired bones and 28 single bones). The appendicular skeleton breaks down to the lower extremity (62 bones) and upper extremity (64 bones).

The skull, right hand, right foot, and the vertebral column are articulated to provide a comparative view of the articulated and formed skeletal parts versus the disarticulated individual bones.

Axial Skeleton (Skull and Torso)
Our disarticulated skeleton model includes 80 axial skeleton bones. This model features the skull and its 28 bones, as well as the axial bones in the torso. The complete vertebral column including the intervertebral discs are included in this model. Also featured is the thoracic cage with individual ribs and an anterior and posterior view of the sternum, complete with cartilage, processes, notches, and angles.

3-Part Skull
Our life-size skull model is made up of all 22 bones of the skull and can be divided into three parts: the removable calvarium (skull cap), the articulating mandible (jawbone), and the base of the skull. Cast from a real human skull, the included Axis Scientific 3-Part Skull Model displays great relief of the foramen, fossa, bony landmarks, and suture lines.

Appendicular Skeleton (Limbs and Appendages)
The appendicular skeleton features individual bones of the limbs, shoulder girdle, and pelvic girdle in the model. Each carpal, tarsal, and phalange are carefully presented and identified in the disarticulated skeleton model and the detailed study guide. To provide a comparative view of the appendicular bones, the right hand and the right foot are articulated by a metal wire that can be analyzed against their disarticulated counterparts.

Full-Color Detailed Study Guide Booklet & User Guide
The Axis Scientific Complete Disarticulated Life-Size Human Skeleton with 3-Part Skull Model comes with a detailed study guide booklet that identifies the 206 bones in the human body. Each individual bone also consists of more detailed identification of their own parts in the accompanying study booklet.

The Axis Scientific disarticulated skeleton model features the following sections of the skeletal system:

  1. Skull (Axial Skeleton)
  2. Torso (Axial Skeleton)
  3. Lower Extremity (Appendicular Skeleton)
  4. Upper Extremity (Appendicular Skeleton)

Q & A

Q: Are all the bones separate?
A: Yes! With the exception of the three-part skull, one foot skeleton and one hand skeleton, all the bones in this disarticulated skeleton are separate, including all vertebral pieces. There are separate, disarticulated hand and foot models for extensive examination of hand and foot bone anatomy.

Q:  Can this skeleton be articulated / assembled?
A:  While we believe nothing in this world is impossible, assembling this skeleton is not part of its intended uses and would require advanced skill (and unique hardware not provided with the skeleton).  Just like all other disarticulated skeletons available at AnatomyWarehouse.com, this skeleton is intended to be studied in immense, focused detail.

Q:  What is the model made of?
A:  This model is made of a high-quality PVC plastic.

Q:  Who is this model made for?
A:  This skeleton is ideal for advanced study of the human skeleton anatomy, because it gives users unrestricted access to all anatomical details.  Many university students use this skull in high-level anatomy and physiology courses, and it is a favorite among teachers of all levels.  Many forensics experts love this skeleton because of the incredible detail and quality, as well as the challenge it can pose to students who need to learn how to positively identify human remains in any condition.

Q: Are the bones life size?
A: Yes, the bones for this model are life size. If you were to lay all of the bones out and put them in their correct location, in reference to the human body, the skeleton would be life size.

Q: I have lost the skull that came with this bone set. Where can I get a replacement?
A: This skull is actually available for purchase, it is the Axis Scientific 3 Part Classic Human Skull. You can find the skull by searching for the SKU number, A-104405 or simply contact us for assistance.

Q: Does this model come with a case?
A: While the model is not shipped with a case, the bones are shipped in separate bags, within a large box.

Q: Can I buy these bones separately/individually?
A: Yes, with the exception of the hyoid bone, sternum, and the soft intervertebral disks, all of the bones in this set can be purchased individually. Most of them can be found in our Skeletal Models category, which you can access by clicking here.

    Bone set

Posted by Antoine C on Jul 13th 2019

This set of bones was very helpful while learning about the skeleton during my chiropractic training. The bones are solid and seem like good quality, there are a few marks on them where they weren't completely smooth, but it doesn't hurt the study.

    ARRT Exam help

Posted by Aleah R on Jan 6th 2019

This was super helpful when I was studying for my ARRT exams. Basically I just put all of the bones in the box and pulled them out one by one to identify.

    Forensics Testing

Posted by Jenna on Apr 10th 2017

This was a great addition to our forensics lab. To be able to take interns or trainees out into the field and have them discover the bones is a lot of fun for them, but fun for us as well. Putting it together can be a challenge for some, but it really helps you build a deeper understanding for the entire human skeleton.
