Description
Often referred to as the killer whale, these fascinating toothed whales are recognizable for their distinctive coloring. Orca whales feature heavily in the mythology of indigenous peoples of the far north, with some tribes viewing the whale as a protector of humanity and others holding the belief that orca are the reincarnations of the souls of great marine hunters. Even their genus, orcinus, refers to the ancient Roman god Orcus, the god of the underworld. Despite their ominous name, orca whales are not considered dangerous to human beings, and typically feed on smaller marine mammals and fish.
Kids and adults will both enjoy this orca puzzle, featuring one transparent side through which the internal organs are visible. The organs and parts are hand-painted, and the puzzle is easily assembled through the use of the included guide. The guide also features a variety of fun facts, and even a quiz to test your knowledge of these marine wonders. Once assembled, the 6.5 inch model can be displayed with the included stand.
